Ten years. This is the time it took the Vero Volley Consortium to reach a place in the history of Italian volleyball and to arrive at the European level. But the idea that created the Vero Volley Consortium was, and still is, that of returning volleyball to its educational and cultural dimension with the aid of the academic world and of science: this approach is the first true “qualitative innovation” of the Consortium. In addition to achieving great results in the sports field, the Vero Volleyball Consortium has always been able to renew itself and to achieve important goals in other areas: this strategic innovation, aimed at the future, finds its value in translating Vero Volley’s tendency to improve into culture and operations in other fields.
The activities developed by Vero Volley can be traced back to these main areas:
SPORT SCIENCE
Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee is an internal component of Vero Volley with functions of proposal, promotion, advice and coordination on Vero Volley’s cultural projects and on its initiatives in the field of research and sports training. It’s composed of university professors of scientific, humanistic and economic disciplines, and professionals from different sectors.
Biomechanics Laboratory
The biomechanics laboratory has been set up inside the Monza Arena with a sensor platform and high-resolution cameras for research projects such as the current one, related to studying how the fall from jumps affects problems related to the spine and how to prevent possible problems.
M.A.F. Performance Index
The M.A.F. index is a research project aimed at developing an indicator of the overall performance of volleyball players, both as individuals and as part of their team. The creation of this index stems from the desire to have a big volume of data structured in a database that takes into account various parameters related to the different fundamentals.
EDUCATION AND LEARNING
Projects for kids
These are didactic and educational paths reserved for the Consortium’s athletes that are developed during the year in parallel with the volleyball sport activity.
Mangioco
A series of original and scientifically validated didactic games, aimed at creating good habits and food education for children of minivolley courses.
Ambientevero
An educational experience linked to respect for the environment and carried out with children from the minivolleyball and youth teams.
Let’s play
A series of team-building musical activities involving all the teams, even the ones competing in the Italian Volleyball Leagues. The activities include body percussion workshops for the youngest and, for the othert, guided listening to various genres of music in order to learn how to recognize them.
Parents’ School
Conceived by professional Sports Psychologists, the project aims to educate parents of athletes to the fundamental values of sport. The course addresses common issues and invites the sharing of best practices, in order to make parents aware of the fundamental role that the practice of sport plays in the development of children, and of their fundamental role as educators.
M.A.F. Academy
The Miguel Angel Falasca Academy is a training and updating web platform for volleyball coaches developed in order to find all the learning needs of “modern learners”. The platform offers the opportunity to take individual on-line courses or complete technical lessons and participate in on-court workshops. Topics range from teaching volleyball fundamentals and relationships with athletes to providing specific knowledge in specialized areas.
SPORT MANAGEMENT
Managerial Organization
The managerial reorganization of all the areas of the Consortium has begun due to the collaboration with Eng. Andrea Boaretto, CEO of Personalive and professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan. This reorganization passes through the deep study of its own reality and objectives, declined in the short and medium term through strategies and actions developed accordingly.
Mission
To educate all athletes and key stakeholders to a concept of “real” sport, future-oriented, to be achieved through challenging and sustainable goals, innovative practices and strong ethical values.
Vision
“Volleyball is cool”: we want to make the game of volleyball attractive and appealing to new generations, to expand the catchment area and the following of our activities in the area.
Execution
Transforming strategies into actions, with the support of an extensive internal organization and measuring results with appropriate indicators, this is the road we have chosen to take.
Management Control
In order to implement an effective execution system, we have introduced a flexible organization model, adaptable and transferable also to smaller sports clubs, describing the activities through processes and monitoring them with appropriate periodic indicators.
Digital Transformation
For some years now, the Consortium has been on a path of digital transformation with a twofold purpose:
- To increase internal efficiency and to reduce costs (“digital IN”), through the adoption of appropriate tools and modern technologies such as the G-Suite, the RIM database and the Elatos Management System, which facilitate the sharing of data between the various areas involved
- To improve the experience and services for all external customers (“digital OUT”): an activity has been carried out to strengthen the various communication channels of Vero Volley Consortium and the creation of an integrated digital ecosystem that, through Vero Volley Club and its CRM, offers users services and experiences that are increasingly personalized according to their different needs.
Attention to fans
An in-depth study was carried out on the fans of Vero Volley, around whom a real “multichannel offer system” was built. A mapping of the various physical and digital touchpoints was carried out, which were put into communication and relationship using all available channels: the Monza Arena during matches and events, the Vero Volley community, partners and sponsors and the world of media directly connected to the Consortium, in addition to the various print and online publications that daily report on the life of the Consortium and its activities.
